I got this from a charity shop and chose it because of its size, many full-colour illustrations, and because it seemed to be comprehensive. However, I would not recommend it. It's really dogmatic, both in terms of saying "you WILL feel like this at x weeks pregnant" and in terms of telling you what you should and shouldn't do (even eating tinned fruit is proscribed). Not only is this irritating to read, but it can be very worrying e.g. she says you will definitely feel fetal movements by show more 18-20 weeks. This is simply not true - it's more like 24-28 weeks with a first baby - and can cause unnecessary stress. Despite some useful advice, I would not recommend this book as it doesn't seem to take account of the fact that every pregnancy is different, and the last thing you want is to be constantly lectured and told you're abnormal. show less
this is a good pregnancy book. because it covers so much (from conception through the newborn phase), the treatment of some topics is somewhat light. but it does have lots of good information and a pro-women tone. i especially like the fact that it is balanced (in terms of medical/natural birth philosophies).
This book is visually pleasing and wonderful for introducing colours to children.

It's tough - it's not quite a board book, but the pages are glossy light cardboard, so they're more durable than paper. Each page features pictures of objects of a specific colour. A peek-a-boo hole with a sliding card slides one object out so that the child can look at it in a different colour (eg: red apple - now slide the tab - green apple!)

This is a wonderful aide to introducing vocabulary, as it makes it show more clear to the child that 'green' represents the colour rather than the object itself.

My son thinks this book is wonderful.

Interesting although a little dated with the treatments due to the fact that it came out in 1998. However, overall it's a good book on how to do a breast self-exam and what to do if you find any abnormality.
