I love the Dummies series--over the years they've made plain things that are made way too complicated in manuals--with lots of little tricks you can treasure. And it was nice to have this conveniently light and small-sized reference. But we've moved on way past Office 4 by now--and when I make excuses like "well, it might still be useful, I'm sure a lot of the information still holds"--it's time to let go.
I suppose a book like this is unlikely to please everyone who reads it. From my point of view, as someone who wanted to learn the basics of networking in general, I found bits of it interesting and useful, but many parts were pitched at too advanced a level for 'dummies'. I thought there was too much information on details, like configuring specific operating systems, and not enough on general concepts. Incidentally, I had previously considered the non-'All-in-One' version of the book, but show more it appeared to be the same as this one with some parts omitted (not always the case with Dummies books). show less
Nice intro to networking. Topics are geared to Windoz, not to much on unix/Linux os.
I keep this one in my library for the title. Didn’t Lowe say that about the first edition?
