- Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone (1883-1981) (Alice Mary Victoria Augusta Pauline); née Princess Alice of Albany; member of the British Royal Family, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria Upon her marriage to Prince Alexander of Teck in 1904, she was styled HRH Princess Alexander of Teck In 1917 Prince Alexander dropped the surname of Teck for that of Cambridge becoming for awhile Sir Alexander Cambridge, then Earl of Althone, relinquishing his German titles. Princess Alice also relinquished her German title as Princess of Saxe-Coburg and was properly styled Her Royal Highness Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone from July 1917 until her death
