This is clearly a British publication repackaged under the Barnes & Noble reprint for the US market with zero change to the text so it has a distinct UK centric feel. It’s also heavily biased towards the evolution of military flight with civil aviation something of an afterthought.
On the surface there’s not much here with just a thirty-page text intro covering the evolution of flight from 1903 to 2003 so it is by nature somewhat superficial.
The following 200 plus pages present a show more selection of aviation related images from the Getty archive organized by decade.
Yet despite its superficial nature I did find a few nuggets of information along the way.
Overall a quick read that may grab someone’s interest enough for them to want to know more. show less
