This is, by now, a fairly dated text book (1991). But I'm not sure how much the basic physiology knowledge has advanced. And I've found it quite thorough and interesting in the sections that I've consulted. A wealth of charts and graphs and a huge section in the back with conversion factors etc. (I guess, this is one thing that has changed with the internet and the availability of Apps that can give conversions etc., with a few taps on the iPhone. And you can carry it with you everywhere. I show more don't pretend to have read the whole book but I'm really impressed with the sections that I have read. (I noticed my son consulting it recently). Very thorough with the section on muscle physiology/chemistry and very thorough on the section about gas exchange with Haemoglobin in the blood transport system etc. Happy to give it five stars and I'll probably be consulting it from time to time. show less
