A little out of date now, but still a great guide for any deluded fool / meglomaniac who thinks opening a museum is the best thing to do ....

Only bettered, in my opinion, by the AMSEE document "Don't do it!" (aka 100 reasons not to start a museum).

But if you remain unconvinced, and really do want to start a museum (or find yourself working for one which someone else started) this book is a good place to start reading, if you check with later sources (or a Museum Development Officer) that show more it's still up to date. Or it might explain to you why someone starting a museum in the last century did some of the things they did! show less
