This was a fun and silly book for kids. I shared it with my students on the first day of school for fun. The illustrations were packed with detail and the characters feelings and mood throughout were portrayed in the words and pictures. The author used different sized fonts, bold words, and different types of word art that made each page pop.

This is a silly book about a girl wanting to bring her piano to the beach. She promises her mom she will be in charge of the piano and take good care of it. A series of events happen making it hard for her to take care of the piano and she ends up leaving the beach without it. I like this book because my students find it funny and can relate to it at the same time. At one point or another they have all wanted to bring a special toy or item somewhere where their parents didn't want them to show more bring it. Like the girl in the story they learned that maybe their parents know best. show less
Leopold the giraffe is used to being the star of the zoo, and sees a balloon giraffe as competition. Leopold bursts a kid's giraffe balloon with an acacia branch so he can be the center of attention again, but then the kid gets a whole new bunch of giraffe balloons - which get stuck in Leopold's acacia tree. Leopold rescues the balloons and becomes the kid's hero - a pretty nice feeling.

First sentence: Daytime. Playtime. Teatime. Tummy time! Nap time. Snack time. Screen time. Tummy time!
Premise/plot: Any time can be the right time for TUMMY TIME. This book celebrates the ordinary moments of family life. Every spread includes TUMMY TIME. But other moments are highlighted too. One of my favorites, for example, is when the baby is getting all the attention--I believe from grandparents?--and it's the older toddler who is having TUMMY TIME (aka a tantrum on the floor). The book show more concludes with the mom having "tummy time" in bed getting some much deserved sleep.
My thoughts: I liked this one. I definitely liked it. The illustrations are very expressive. Some of the scenes are super relatable. I like the flow of the text. show less
