This read was part of some work for a research project, but it ended up being an interesting book, if wholly misguided and false. It gets one bone for the some of the creatively composed chapters - there's even a fictitious crime, fictionalized to demonstrate how a particular kind of a polygraph testing might work in the context of an investigation. But, outside the writing skill, the information contained therein is fundamentally propaganda. It's dangerous propaganda from a time when the show more world of psychology jousted at the polygraph windmill to eradicate it back in the late 80s and early 90s. Much of the anti-polygraph literature that followed was pinned to Lykken's coattails. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but particularly not lay people who would get a false understanding of the tool, though it was instructive for the research in understanding the seeds of anti-polygraph sentiment.
