A version of "1066 and all that" for the aggressively Scottish. I found the jokes fairly predictable.

"charlie is good at making faces - So good that he's the first boy ever to be entered for a dog show. But will his elastic face be enough to foil the bird-brained Clogpot brothers and thier hot-tempered sister Rosabella"
What a superb narrative, I enjoyed this simple story mainly because it had twist and turns that kept me interested. The language was clear and easy to understand. My only complaint is that he has resorted to actual caroon sections to cover some of show more the story, dont ask me why I dislike this format for story telling. show less

This is two linked stories in a single book, followig the fashon of having the book flip over so that each story begins at one side of the book.
The stories themselves are well crafted and esy to follow with a good degree of characterisation and location.
Although this book had my least favoirise feature of having text as part of the illustrations I still was able to follow the story well. Perhaps this is a feature of childrens books that am getting used to, but show more I still find it annoying. show less

"Nocto and Squibbly are the Ghost Doctors. They speed to the rescue of sick ghosts. They help them get better...at haunting and scaring"
I realy liked this book it has a good narrative and a feeling of place. the illustrations do assist with the understanding of the story but in no way replace the actual story telling. Although it is about ghosts it is not frightening in any way.
