I grew up with Hans de Beer and was so excited to read this, I was not disappointed. These stories are short, sweet, and full of fun! I enjoyed the diversity of the animals told within the stories.

Bobo and his Uncle are making a kite and after they work up an appetite stop and break for a meal. When Bobo's uncle Darwin gets sick Bobo wants to help, so he goes in search for humans and medicine. Uncle Darwin cautions him about humans but Bobo goes anyway. On his adventure to find medicine he meets Pico, a boy from the village. Pico helps him to get medicine and Bobo takes the medicine back to his uncle to heal him. Not one of my favorite books, but I love the illustrations. k-2

A baby orangutan finds a violin, learns to play it, loses it, and finds another one. The illustrations trump the story, which is considerably lacking in tension or character development.
