We needed a short read-aloud to fill in a gap last week, so I decided to read this one to my six-year-old animal lover. It is a delightful story of a cat who gets lost and has to survive on her own, and how she draws two people together. The pictures are delightful, and the short chapters made it easy to find a stopping place.

This book lead to one of my cats bearing the name "Lily Black" and though I haven't found a copy as of yet, I want to. This, "The Junkyard Dog" and "The Dancing Cats of Applesap" are 3 books I remember from one long cold in 1996.
