I'm with the lawyers on this one, I think a good divorce is a mythic creature, particularly when your husband leaves you after fifteen years to shack up with his coworker and is a complete jerk. I sure as heck wouldn't be so agreeable, and I think that's what bugged me about this story. Rosie is not working towards a good divorce, she is a doormat letting her ex get his way to keep the peace, and the irony of that seemed to have escaped the author.I didn't much care for any of Rosie's show more romantic choices either and even her HEA ending was tainted for me by the adulterous kiss and the revelation of his alter ego. He was still married after all, and being "unhappy in his marriage" is an excuse a mistress might buy, not someone whose husband left her with the same complaint barely 12 months before.I found The Good Divorce Guide a quick and easy read, amusing in places, but ordinary and the plot awkward. show less
This book is very rooted in middle class UK society so its emphasis on school fees and good schools etc meant nothing to me, but it it was a light, quick read.
