- Not only is Claire Raye a really sweet pen name, it's actually a pen name for two sarcastic best friends who met through their mutual love of reading. After bonding over books (and wine and cheese), they decided to take the plunge and see if they could write a book together and The Rockport Beach Series was born! In addition to their shared love of food, the writing duo that is Claire Raye like to write about strong, sassy females who aren't afraid to say what's on their mind and the overprotective men who fall in love with them. Both halves of Claire Raye are married and both of their husbands have a cheeky side that gets plenty of airtime in their books. From their smart mouths to their witty one-liners, there's plenty of material to use for all those alpha males they love to write about.

This is the continuation of Caleb and Ruby's story, with the start and f the book immediately following the events of the first book in this duology. The couple must face the consequences of Caleb's actions and also the personal struggles that still haunts him. It takes a group effort from Sienna, Reid, and Ruby in supporting Caleb through this situation.
For the most part, I enjoyed the whole story. There was one chapter in which the start of it got me annoyed but after that it show more was focused on helping Caleb while also making his relationship strong with Ruby. Ruby is strong here but knows that it's a fine line in helping her boyfriend before overstepping healthy boundaries. Truly, this book explores how mental health is crucial and for some people, seeking professional help is key to healing.
I enjoyed the duology very much and look forward to more of this series by Claire Raye.

Ruin Me: A Sister’s Best Friend Angsty New Adult Romance (Hawthorn Hills Duet Book 3) by Claire Raye
4.25/5 stars!
Leaving Rhode Island after what happened to him, Caleb Parker goes to California with his sister and best friend to start a new life. Trying to overcome the effects of his trauma, Caleb befriends his sister's roommate, Ruby Collins, while fighting against his attraction to the spunky brunette because he knows he's broken and lost. But then Ruby's professor makes a move...
This New Adult college romance is griping, enjoyable, and flows smoothly as the hero battles inner demons and show more the heroine wants to befriend him. Yet close quarters and sexual attraction plays a part in changing their relationship. This story deals with PTSD and other issues that makes readers want to follow the journey the hero and heroine goes through with the he support of friends and family. This book is just the first of a duology featuring Caleb and Ruby, and I can't wait to read the couple's next book.

Alexa story was fantastic, Jake definitely got himself a strong girl that will stand up for herself in every situation, she is fierce. It is a slow burn but so worth as it will take you in a journey where trust and love is the main topic. Absolutely loved this story.
