John Ward (27) (1866–)

An unusual memoir of a little known military mission to Siberia (in co-operation with various allies) to support the White Russian against the Bolsheviks, in the period towards the end of and after the First World War. A remarkable challenge for any army officer - though in the event it helped that Col John Ward had a trade-union background. Rather a lot of politics, yet a remarkable account of Russia in revolutionary turmoil.
