Titel is de titel van de film die de reizende filmoperateu zal draaien aan het einde, Marie zie je daar naartoe gaan.

Misschien is het kerkje in de film hetgeen Van Gogh heeft geschilderd.

VPRO: Voor de bewoners van het gehucht Tellier is Marie het slaafje voor smerig werk, en seksspeelgoed wanneer het zo uitkomt. Nadat haar moeder is doodgereden weet Marie: tijd om rekeningen te vereffenen. Lafont (1938-2013) is show more vuurwerk als engel der wrake in deze boosaardige schets van een naargeestige gemeenschap (de dorpsnaam verwijst naar het bordeel in De Maupassants vertelling La Maison Tellier). Marie's wrakkige boshut raakt gaande de film vol met curiosa (een gekruisigde vleermuis, spaarvarkentje, Jeroen Bosch-prent, de vestzakhorloges van haar klanten). It is most unfortunate that the general public has not gotten to view this movie with it's complete content, & even more unfortunate that Gance was never to film his complete saga of Napoleon. I completely conside with his disappointment with MCA's condensed version, which caused several scenes to seem nonsensical & would not have been had the film been left in its entirety.
Although it is interesting to read the contents of the scenes left out, there is still a large gap that can never be show more filled when you take into consideration that the movie had originally been thirty-seven (?) reels of film condensed into a mere four hours only. show less
