A poor farmer sells his soul for money.
2/4 (Indifferent).
This is only highly regarded for technical stuff, like the (great) music and lighting and so on. The story and characters are insufferable. And the titular face-off of lawyer vs. devil is only the last 10 minutes of the movie, and amounts to a single terrible speech of patriotic gibberish.

Not going to finish The Last Dragon. It started off cute, but keeps getting more and more ridiculous.
The first Monte Cristo on Broadway was Lester Wallack (1820-68) Then, in 1907, James O'neill. In the cinema, we have had Robert Donat (the best), Gerard Depardieu, Jim Caviezel, Richard Chamberlain (the worst), and Jean Marais. It isn't easy to stage LCDMC
