While I had some knowledge of Arianrhod before reading this, I was curious to see what new material and information I would find inside. A quick note - if you are unfamiliar with Welsh pronunciation, there is a helpful guide at the back that I suggest referencing before you dive in, or regularly as needed. Definitely read this front to back, although it's an introduction, it's more in-depth than you'd expect. I learned a lot, and it was a great refresher for the information I already knew. show more The book is well-written and organized, but I wouldn't recommend bouncing around like some of the others in the Pagan Portals series unless you're already quite familiar with the Goddess, and you're just looking for a quick guide to deepen your connection with her. The deep dive into the myth may have been my favorite chapter, although I found all of them very informative. Highly recommend for anyone interested in learning more, or trying to connect with Arianrhod. show less
I found this book very enlightening. It was beautifully written and gave great insights into the process of dying and bereavement. I was drawn to this book for various reasons - I am interested in Druids, other people's view of death, and also I will be with a dear friend when her time comes to pass. I particularly loved the description of Druid rituals which I found comforting and inspiring. Kristoffer's reasons for doing the job he does was not macabre in any way and the respect and show more kindness he shows in dealing with the dead and their relatives was also inspiring. There was a lot in the book and I intend to read it again. It's one of those books that comes to mind every now and then. show less
I really enjoyed the writing style. Right up front, he mentions that his version of Celtic would not include any Irish tradition and would focus only on Welsh. Though I follow the Irish tradition, this book forced me to expand into that side of Celtic beliefs.
