For me, this is absolutely the standard work when it comes to ancient Greek drama, that is to say, tragedy, satire, and comedy of the 5th and 4th century BCE. What British classicists Ian Storey and Arlene Allan present is clear, synthetic, and analytical all at once. You will find not only a synopsis of the most important works and authors themselves, but also in-depth articles on their origins, practical execution, key characteristics, and reception history. This was a huge help in my show more reading of the classical plays.
