Memories of a Ballplayer: Bill Werber and Baseball in the 1930s (Society for American Baseball Research) by Bill Werber
Werber was one of the few college-educated players in the pre-World War II era. He was a colorful player, but was also a racist who spoke out against black ballplayers as late as the 1970s.
Memories of a Ballplayer: Bill Werber and Baseball in the 1930s (Society for American Baseball Research) by Bill Werber
A very interesting look at baseball, it’s players, and life in the 30s and 40s. Anyone who’s a fan of Americas Pastime should read this at some point.
