This is a fun story that demonstrates how those who move slow and steady win the race. I did not particularly care for this version of the story. I did not like how this book was set up. On each page of the book there is a margin filled with pictures and words. Throughout the story certain words are eliminated and replaced by a picture. For example, there is a picture of a squirrel instead of the actual word squirrel in the following sentence, “He saw the squirrel and the deer holding the show more blue ribbon.” I find this confusing. It ruins the flow of the book and makes it hard for children to practice fluency. show less
Retells in rebus format the classic tale in which a boy finds his fortune at the top of a beanstalk.
