I have a very young teen with autism and I thought this book might be of a little help learning about navigating the teen world. I like the content of the book--Especially the chapters on labels, emotions and social media. As another reviewer commented, the book is rather plain with few subtitles--no pictures or cartoons or charts--this book would be excellent if the format fit the audience. Adding cartoons or pictures, etc... and breaking the chapters up with subsets etc... would make it show more more exciting for teens and get the content across in a more palatable manner. However, the content is already pretty good and my young teen has like a few points in the book which is high praise. show less

This book gives useful tips for improving social skills and self-esteem, especially for socially anxious or awkward teenagers. I read it and thought it was mediocre, could be improved, but had some pieces of good advice. My 15-year-old daughter read it and wasn't impressed. Her comment was "...laughably unrealistic for a modern teen. Following the advice about dating and talking to people will get you weird looks." Perhaps better for middle-school ages who are more nervous about high school.

Powerful Social Skills for Teens is a self-help book for teens that speaks to them directly. There is contemporary slang (salty, sus) and everything is to that age group’s experience. This is a book to be read by adults before their teen children read it (if that’s how it’s done in the family) because there are no insights for adults.

I read this book as a parent of a thirteen year old with high functioning autism. It was super informative. There is a lot of insight and information on communication which I really found helpful and I believe my son will too. He has dyslexia so I wanted to read the book first, then I will read him bits and pieces as we move through the teen years. I like that it addresses peer pressure, social media and relationships/dating (although we are not at the dating part of life....yet!). This book show more is chocked full of information on navigating the awkward and sometimes difficult world of being social. Great read! show less
