Concepts and methods of youth work by Rob White (2009) is the first of a series of three volumes in the "Doing youth work series". The series consists of over 100 papers from the peer-reviewed journal, Youth Studies Australia (also published by the Australian Clearinghouse for Youth Studies). The papers have been selected by Professor Rob White for their relevance and practical significance to youth workers in Australia today.

Volume one in the series, 'Concepts and methods of youth work', show more considers key issues surrounding youth work as a career and a profession. It delves into the practical skills and knowledge needed by individuals as they undertake work in the youth field. It highlights the ideological or philosophical universe within which workers operate, and the more mundane aspects of being a worker in the field not noted for extravagant funding. The collecion also brings to light the pressures, strains and limits on the doing of youth work from a youth worker perspective. show less
