Only the alluring Anne Jeffreys and Jane Greer make this worth slogging through. The plot is paint-by-numbers and Conway, as Tracy, has about as much charisma as a barn door. Always nice to see Mike Mazurki, of course, but "Dick Tracy, Defective" would be a better title.

Good cast makes this quick B Movie about a truck driver trying to solve the mystery of a series of crashes pretty enjoyable, if all rather implausible, especially the final explanation! There is, of course, no US Highway 13 in California, and if there were, it would be North-South, not East-West as the sheriff's cars are dispatched near the end of the film. The film does take place somewhere around Lancaster and Mojave, however.

Stupid Ellen Drew suddenly and unknowingly marries a gangster instead of the forest ranger (Lowery) who loves her (apparently since childhood). The forest ranger has just been promoted after punching his boss and saving two horses. The gangster's fortunes are not going to go so well. And don't miss the scene of Eddie Quillan playing checkers with himself. It goes on and on as if to pad out the already less than an hour running time! Still, the acting is pretty good, and there's a brave dog show more to reward your time spent watching. show less

2024 movie #124. 1946. The Falcon and his sidekick, Goldie, head out on a fishing trip (dressed in suits and ties) but end up rescuing a kidnapped woman and saving her father's new process for synthetic diamonds from industrial spies. Kind of dull and The Falcon's last movie.
