This book, which got the author jailed under the infamous Comstock laws, is presented as a letter written to Jesus, asking questions that were regarded as worse than impertinent...in fact, they were considered totally blasphemous. In a world awash with doubters asking questions, it would no doubt seem strange that a book much milder than any written by today's outspoken atheists should ahve aroused so much outrage, but in its day, it was quite horrifying to good Christians.
