Katharine Bailey

Katherine Bailey does a great job on detailing the exploration of Vasco Da Gama, and his trailblazing efforts in creating the spice trade route. The route taken by Da Gama was extremely dangerous, especially along the southern tip of Africa, otherwise known as the Cape of Good Hope. After several grueling years, and many deaths amongst Da Gama's travel mates, (mostly due to scurvy) Da Gama created the spice trade route, and brought back many riches and spices back to Da Gama's homeland, show more Portugal. The book is filled with interesting facts. The illustrations were great and detailed. The illustrations did a great job helping tell the story. show less
