This is supposed to be scary?

The art is ugly, but not creepy. The writing verges on so-bad-it's-good, but stays on the wrong side of that line with its silly Twilight Zone twists and the overheated cheese that passes for dialogue.

Be Very Afraid of Kanako Inuki is a pretty interesting read if you're into horror with a twist. It has six stories that are meant to be scary, but honestly, I found them more emotional than terrifying—which actually made them more memorable. The artwork is really good and adds to the mood of each story. Kanako Inuki has a unique way of telling horror stories that feel intense without relying too much on gore or jump scares. Instead, the stories explore deeper themes and emotions, which I show more appreciated. The translation by Kevin Gifford flows well, making it an easy and engaging read. Weiiiiird, but cool and creepy! I love that these creators with large bodies of work are getting well done translations and repackagings in the US. Interesting stuff!
