A short fantasy, an homage to the roman writer Lucan, in that it envisages a trip to the afterlife to disparage some former politicians, literary figures, and rulers. Replete with quotations and classical references, it is not very entertaining material. I am sure the translation is as accurate as could be managed in 1984.
Not fantastic, but entertaining. The translation is a bit rough at points, and it takes forever for the story to actually start. Once you get to Hades, it picks up, and so long as you like poking fun at ancient philosophy, you'll enjoy the basic premise.
