I absolutely loved this installment even though I dreaded going back to Tenebra. IYKYK But, having not just the expected crew but also the Ashes was an unexpected surprise. I don’t know if Vela Roth could show more introduce me to a character I don’t like! (Chrysanthos-stan here) Up until this series we have had several unanswered questions and in this book we finally get some answers no matter how hard it might be to accept for some of our characters. In Tenebra, where a woman’s weaving room is more dangerous than the tournament field, we get to revisit Cassia’s past and uncover more than just what she remembers. One thing I love about sequels/continuations in series is when books have their character’s consequences from the previous book/s and Blood Gift DELIVERS CONSEQUENCES. YOU GET A CONSEQUENCE AND YOU GET A CONSEQUENCE!

This is a fast-paced, spicy romantasy novella that completely pulled me in. I loved the twist on Sleeping Beauty; this time, it’s the immortal vampire hero who’s been asleep for a hundred years. Celandine, a former princess seeking revenge, awakens him to harness his power, but their chemistry is instant and intense. I enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers tension, the magic system, and how both characters are dealing with deep loss and betrayal. Despite her initial manipulations, Celandine show more grows into someone Troi can trust, and watching their connection build was incredibly satisfying. The worldbuilding is rich, the spice level hits just right, and it’s a great intro to the Blood Grace universe. I devoured it in one sitting! show less

This was excellent! I loved everything from the immersive writing and world-building to the depth of the characters. It was empowering to see Cassia's progression of a demure bastard princess to a strategic and cunning rebel of the crown. Lio's ability to not only guide but assist her in this was amazing. I can't wait to read book 2!!
