Charles J. Bashe joined IBM in 1949, soon after receiving the M.S.E.E. degree from Purdue University. After working on the experimental Tape Processing Machine, he became engineering manager of the Type 702 data processing machine and other development projects in the IBM laboratory at Poughkeepsie, New York. He was subsequently a divisional manager of technical development and a divisional director of input-output device development. In 1980 he was asked to establish IBM's corporate technical history project. - Nationality
