This ten-page show catalog includes an artist's statement, an essay by art historian Aliva Wardlaw, and color illustrations of eight of Oliver's paintings from his Hooks-Epstein show of December 4, 1997 - January 10, 1998. Oliver is one of my favorite painters. The quality and depth of his work hints at how many truly fine artists there must be throughout the world, who are isolated within a small geographic region. As has been the case through much of my life, by the time I discovered him, show more his canvases were quite beyond my budget. show less
Till Freedom Cried Out: Memories of Texas Slave Life (Clayton Wheat Williams Texas Life Series) by Julie P. Baker
Great stories and sketches. I used it in research for my novel and it was full of interesting truths about slavery times.
