Two Places to Sleep is about seven year old David who doesn’t like that his parents live in different places now that they are divorced and that he only gets to see his mom sometimes, as well as having other concerns.Happily, through the story David learns to deal with the divorce by spending time with both his parents separately, doing things they enjoy and by noticing benefits of the divorce, like that his mom is a better listener. I like this book because of the very realistic story it show more tells from a child's perspective and would want to use it in my teaching in order to give students something to relate to while learning. This book is suitable for Grades K-3 with themes surrounding different family structures, dealing with divorce, and learning to appreciate different people for different reasons. show less
A young boy must live through his parents divorce. It does not make him happy. He believes that it is his fault and that if he were to act better that they will get back together. Towards the end of the book he seems to become accepting of it.

A good book about parents getting divorced, lets children know they are not the only ones going through this.
David's parent's just got divorced. He does not like it at all. He lives with his daddy in their house during the week, and with his mom in her city apartment on weekends. David has a good time with both his parents, but he misses them being together. While out with his mom, he accidentally spills a milkshake, and has an idea that if he never has an accident again and behaves really well, his parents can get undivorced. His mom explains that it is not his fault. By the end of the book David show more has accepted his living situation a little more, and himself and his parents divorce as well. Appropriate for ages 4-7.
