Jeffcott collected interesting research, including interviews, letters, etc. However, I sometimes got frustrated with his focus. He spent a lot of time arguing dates, but exact dates aren't the details most people remember in retelling stories, so it's not surprising that interviewees remembered different dates; that shouldn't have been such a focus in the book. Jeffcott didn't follow up on locations (where Jarman was held hostage could have been narrowed down or at least seriously show more considered) or people (several people said it was his daughter, not his sister, who was slandered before the shooting) enough. There weren't any maps at all in the book, although places were mentioned constantly throughout and were important in understanding Jarman's life. A map of Jarman's probable or stated travels would have been great, or at least one marked with places he had been known to live. show less
