Gillian Baverstock (1931–2007)

Gillian Mary Pollock was the elder daughter of the bestselling children’s novelist Enid Blyton and her first husband, Major Hugh Pollock. She trained as a teacher and taught at Moorfields primary school in Ilkley. She also worked in children's publishing. In 1957, she married Donald Baverstock, a BBC producer, and the couple had four children. Gillian Baverstock lectured extensively on the subject of children’s literature and was "the principal keeper of her mother's flame," according to the Daily Telegraph. She founded Quill Publications, Ltd., in conjunction with the comic writer Tim Quinn in 1999, which produced 12 editions of the children's comic book Blue Moon. She wrote a series of stories for it based on popular old fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty and Little Red Riding Hood.
