Faith Yingling Knoop

This book has been on the shelf for over six years, and I never even opened it until recently. However, it is an excellent biography. It is perfect for 2-4th grade children, with largish print, lots of white space and a fairly simple vocabulary. At the same time, I found it engaging and very informative. This man’s life story is fascinating! I will definitely continue looking for books from this series.

This is an excellent book within this series of world explorers. Knoop chronicles the steps Hillary took to achieve not only the ascent of Mt. Everest, but also greatness in other areas of his life as well. For the most part, Knoop limits her text to facts and actual words of her subject. There is little fictionalizing of missing details. Of course, Mt. Everest is given lengthy treatment (for a children's book) of Mt.
