A lovely and varied collection of beastie poetry made even more engaging through the playful, and often multi-page, narrative of Yoon's illustrations.
In my opinion, this is a very creative book. The main thing I like about this book is the illustrations. The illustrations are very vibrant and each one has a style that fits the text. This book is a poetic book so each illustration matches the poem that it is describing. Another thing I really enjoy about this book is the writing. The writing of each individual poem is organized, and engaging. I really like this verse from "The Crocodile" poem : "How cheerfully he seems to grin, How neatly show more spreads his claws, And welcomes little fishes in, With gently smiling jaws!" This verse not only rhymes, but makes readers really think about what is going on (the crocodile is eating the small fish). show less
Different yet interesting. Strange and unusual illustrations of animals and beasts with poems about the creatures. My favorite was the alligator but I did love all the full fold out pages and it was very colorful.
This book is a lovely collection of poems about animals and insects written by a variety of poets. Joohee Yoon uses three pantone colors along with hand drawing and computer techniques to illustrate each poem. The illustrations are colorful, fun and take up two pages and sometimes a fold out for each poem. The poems are light-hearted and whimsical. I think that this is really fun book of poetry to add to your collection and share with students.

It is recommended for children age 4-8 years show more old and it is about 48 pages long.
