Summary: This is a beautifully illustrated picture book that is about two children who take on a journey to cross the border in search of a better life. The story follows their adventure as they face challenges like running through the desert, confronting fears, and sticking together through difficult moments. It's a moving tale about hope, resilience, and the courage to face the unknown in the pursuit of safety and freedom. They use their imagination often in this story, and they turn a sad show more concept in to a light hearted child's book.
Comments: I absolutely loved this story, and I particularly enjoyed the unique illustration style that the author included. This is a very real reality for many children crossing the border and I think creating children's books that explain these circumstances is eye opening and immensely broadens a child's world perspective. I would definitely include this picture book in my classroom, especially living near the border in Arizona. show less

Gr 2–4—A splendidly rendered migrant story that is awash in contrasts: light and dark, white space and ghostly
shadows, bright colors and stark fences, peril and hope. Siblings play what begins as a game with three overarching
rules: "Avoid the monsters. Don't get caught. And keep moving." Relatable and child-centered.

Immegration story from a young perspective. This one made me emotional.
