The Last Tribe was clearly written with "The Family" in mind, but the story is so gripping that anyone, especially a prepper, will love it. The sex and profanity are mild enough for young readers, while the intensity of death, human nature and struggle for survival locks the reader in a desire to learn the fate of these well-written characters.
Rebecca is a true heroine. Her foresight, willingness to immerse herself in learning and aptitude for planning is really what saves everyone. This is show more one of my favorite stories...SMILE!!! show less

This book has some serious flaws as far as plausibility goes, and it's very different from the typically violent stories told in most post-apocalyptic novels. However, there's something charming about it, and I enjoyed it despite its flaws and slow pace.
I enjoyed The Last Tribe. It is refreshing to read an apocalypse without zombies, just the human monsters. It was not a perfect book but it was a very good one. I would like to see Mr. Manuel do a sequel. I am interested in what happens to these characters. I would also be interested to see what happened in other parts of this universe as society collapsed. The universe the author created has great potential for storytelling.
2.5 rounded to 3.
This book is way too rosy about the end of the world, but it's not a hard read. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it.
