A nonfiction picture book that also has a storybook feel to it, I can heartily recommend this one! In brief prose, and with beautifully detailed illustrations, readers learn about baby animals cougars, polar bears and elephants. Babies are shown with their families and we find out about what they're early days are like and when they are considered "all grown up" (a mere 6 weeks for bats!).
I especially appreciated that scenes that could easily have been gruesome, like the cougar young show more feeding on a deer, are sensitively portrayed, with no blood or violence shown. In fact, you can only identify when they are feeding on if you look carefully. Perfectly done!
This is one of those rare nonfictions that kids will actually want to have read to them!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. show less

Not sure why I was expecting this book to be in English and Spanish.... this book is completely in Spanish. It is however a cute book, that tells of how different baby animals are born. I had fun reading it to the boys as they tried to guess the animal - by the picture. :) I also learned the names of animals in both languages.
Cute book, full of very interesting information, but definitely for a child that is more advanced in Spanish.

I enjoyed reading this book with my toddler. It is educational but still cute. He liked looking at all the animals, and I like that he’s learning while having fun. It was interesting to learn when different animals are considered all grown up. This resonated with my toddler who says “he’s big now”.
The drawings are cute but realistic.
If you are looking for a nice and easy non fiction book for kids, this is a good one.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Cuddled and Caring is a cute book for 2- 3 year olds. The book, with few words, depicts the nurturing relationship between parent and child that exists across species. The illustrations are detailed and well conceived. The author has included a page of discussion questions to involve the child on a deeper level than just the rehearsal of the text.
