(Full disclosure: I received a free book for review through Library Thing's Early Reviewers program.)
Siblings Biggie, Boingy, and Flop have to learn to fend for themselves when their mom runs off to Brazil to learn jiujitsu (after they are weaned, of course, she's not a monster). But the real world isn't easy to navigate: as soon at the trio leaves their warren, it's taken over by a pair of chipmunks. And when they find a bit of food in the garbage bins, they're forced to compete with trash show more pandas (aka raccoons). Luckily, Flop is a bit of an evil genius, and - aided by clues left by their equally Machiavellian mother - the "Fluffle Bunnies" soon trick the entire park into bending to their will. Up next: the entire town!
BUNS GONE BAD is a cute graphic novel for younger readers, ages 6 to 8. While I sometimes enjoy children's books, I think the appeal here is limited to the target demo. The art is cute and the storytelling okay, though the bathroom and garbage scenes were pretty gross. It didn't leave much of an impression on this adult reader, though animal-loving kids might enjoy it. show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Charming! The stories felt episodic though they were held together by a common thread. Machine Boy has a quick turn of heart after an encounter with Goh (think of your average shounen hero but mid-sixties) and later his wife. The stuff with Bea felt rushed, but the lighthearted tone and the lovely artwork kept my attention. The boyband stuff was also fun.
The usual process is that the young grow up and leave the nest. In this Fluffle Bunny story, mother leaves the bunnies to fend for themselves. Naturally, trouble ensues. Raccoons don’t fare well against Bad Bunnies.
This is a cute graphic novel for youngsters aged 6-9, but would have been so much more effective in colour. The humour was a little gross, but in my experience kids enjoy obnoxious jokes.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This book was cute, quick to read, and I enjoyed it. I have some reluctant readers in my life that I think would enjoy it. The book covers three cute little bunnies with who are extremely clever and are plotting to take over the park. Despite being targeted towards middle-grade children, it isn't too crude for those who are not a fan of potty humor. (It does involve toilets and trash, but it did not feel too gross.) Oh, there's also an overly serious narrator who begins and ends the story show more with a comical touch, adding another clever layer to the story. I would read more in the series. show less
