"Sometimes the only good answer is to close your eyes and jump"
Another superb instalment in what is hands down the best epic science-fantasy series I've ever read.
Sal continues to grow into the role she must fulfil, her pack is growing and the war is coming closer. In this book we get to see some of the "smoking (but tasteful) sex scenes" alluded to in every blurb for the series. They don't overwhelm what is essentially a military action adventure tale, and Auryn Hadley knocks it out of the show more park as usual.
Five shining "it doesn't get better than this" stars. Very highly recommended. show less

I can't say I hated this book. I have no problem with the religious thing (are there really people out there that are scandalized by rewriting angelic/demonic creatures??), and the plot and romance was fine.
Honestly, though, this whole book was SO BORING. I made it a third of the way through and pretty much nothing happened. It felt like I was still in the exposition at the beginning of the book.
The premise also suggests that this is an adult paranormal romance book - it's supposed show more to be ancient alpha male guys, reverse harem, m/m romance, explicit sex scenes, etc. However, it really feels like a YA book, at least through the part I got through. The MC is a college freshman (non-traditional, but still), and everybody talks like teenagers. For guys who are supposed to be immortal magical beings, it's really jarring.
All round, extremely meh. And definitely not for me. show less

This was a good listen. The FMC leaves her jerk of a husband and finds herself five boyfriends who are all willing to share her and be father figures to her teenage daughter. What she didn't know was that her boyfriends and their whole community were werewolves.
I liked the journey the FMC took from a meek, emotionally neglected, and abused wife to a strong, independent woman. She learns about herself, gains self-confidence, and is an awesome mom.
This was a slow burn full of sexual tension show more and innuendo. I loved the build-up and the acceptance. The spice was not over the top but good. It was a bit too long and dragged on in places, but I understood what the author was trying to do. So much of it was the journey. A good read; will continue with the series. show less

"Damn, Sal, you're getting pretty good."
This brilliant series just gets better and better.
The world is fascinating. The cast of characters continues to grow and develop. Eight more books to go. So excited.
One minor point: yet again the product description here on Amazon makes reference to "smoking hot sex" which simply isn't there. Love, sore, both romantic and between comrades, but there's nothing here unsuitable for teen readers.
