Jesse Camden and Vivian Windsor of the Myrtle Grove Garden Club go to the San Juan Islands in Washington State to help solve a murder.

I had to chuckle over the Friday Harbor ferry dock scene. Vivian is afraid to watch the ferry dock, to her it looks as if it will never fit the dock and it is going to crash! Having grown up in Seattle and visiting the various San Juan Islands by ferry since I was a child, the idea that a docking ferry would be considered “an act of lunacy” and a show more frightening method of transportation by someone from Oklahoma ended up being something “I” had trouble computing! But, I did love the expectation of disaster.

A cozy mystery that is fun to read.

A good way to pass the time

This was the first book by Loulou Harrington that I have read. I prefer to read books from a series in order, so it was not ideal to start this series with book 6. However, I truly enjoyed reading this book. The story kept my interest, and I thought the budding romance between Joe and Jesse was interesting and kind of cute.

There were passing references to things that had occurred in earlier books, but nothing that would necessarily ruin the experience if I were to show more go back and start with book 1 in the series...and I think I will definitely have to do that! show less
A cozy mystery that spans the age group from 19-70’s, male and female, married and unmarried; all friends who gathered together to save the niece of their friend. So begins the Myrtle Grove Garden Club, a euphemism to hide their investigation behind and confuse the sheriff.

Thoroughly engrossing with an interesting plot, good red herrings and enjoyable from the first page.
Businessman Harry Kerr is found dead in his own swimming pool. As the prime suspect is Bliss the wife, Jesse Camden decides to rally round and prove her innocence with the help of the newly formed Myrtle Grove Garden Club.
