Weird and wonderful horror effort with three intertwining stories about a family retreating to a isolated island that is visited by a group of free-loving young Americans ahead of a team of treasure-hunting archaeologists turning up in search of ancient cults. Jim O'Connolly directs with plenty of creepy, foggy,Lovecraftian atmosphere on cleverly-designed and highly effective studio sets. He mixes traditional Gothic atmospherics with something akin to slasher dynamics, while also delivering show more lashings of weed smoking and perky sex. This ensures some bloody and gruesome moments as well as some sleazy shenanigans. show less
Early stalk'n'slash with some superficial Lovecraftian touches (deformity, madness, tittering, and flute-playing in the villain of the piece), together with an "Elder god" in the background (but Baal rather than one of Lovecraft's pantheon).
2023 movie #72. 1969. A cowboy captures a dinosaur in a lost Mexican valley for his girlfriend's Wild West Show. It doesn't go well. The dinosaur was the work of Ray Harryhausen and his stop-motion effect.
