Despite the title, this is Erotica, not Porn. If anything sets apart Erotic writing from pure Porn it is the fact that erotica is interested in telling a story – interested in the whole person, not just their genitalia. The concern is in telling a story that includes sex and the sensual, where ‘smut’ is more concerned with the sex to the exclusion of any distressing little details like character development or plot, sense of place -- or humor. But the important thing is does Queer PAPI show more Porn ‘work?’ Do the stories raise a sweat? As with most collections, Joel Tan has included work for those of varied tastes. It depends on what you like. There is indeed something for everyone here, although it is interesting to see how much work would fall into the ‘fetish’ category here. Tan himself, ends the book with an intensely beautiful and moving, sexy story of love and loss in the age of AIDS that might well be worth the price of the entire collection. Queer PAPI Porn is well worth spending a few nights curled up in bed with, savor it slowly. My partner and I give it ‘Two thumbs up – Way up!’ show less
