Edie & Crew’s Holi-date centers around Edith “Edie” Wilkins, a 35 yr old woman recently laid off from her job and also coming off the tails of a divorce. Edie is convinced that she is entering into a “protecting my peace, rediscovering me, and doing scary things” era, that is, until 29 yr old fighter Crew Porter shoots his shot in a video on social media inviting her to his hometown to spend time with him for what he dubs a “holi-date”. Edie is hesitant but dives show more right in, and before she knows it her outlook on love is flipped on its head. Will Edie get the made for TV Christmas movie love or is this all a just a facade that will shatter her heart once more? First things first, I died laughing at the dedication, and just knew that what I was about to dive into was going to be a good time. Author Jess Allen has an exceptional way with words that I’m pretty sure will forever have readers eating out of the palm of her hands. This is the second book of hers that I have absolutely devoured in record reading time. The characters in this story relatable, sweet, and raw. I love that MMC Crew is infatuated with Edie and most importantly says, “Edie is beautiful, inside and out” because that’s the kind of love and body positivity that we all want. Not only was the story short and sweet, but it also brought the laughs and was 100% swoon-worthy. I’ll forever be a fan of this author and always recommend her books, go grab it now! show less

In “Finding Charlie” we follow teenage Charlotte Evans and first love Liam Hayes as they get unexpectedly pregnant. This unplanned pregnancy is the final straw that breaks the camels back in a hard lived life that sets Charlotte on a trajectory to change what her and Liam’s future holds. After she makes some very tough decisions, she sets out on her own to build a new future sans Liam. It isn’t until ten years later, that life and fate decides to intervene and bring now show more Charlie and Liam back into each other’s lives. When I say that this book had me in a chokehold I’m not even exaggerating! I loved every single ounce of this story from the characters, to the plot, to the spice. Author, Jesse Allen really takes her readers on a ride with this one providing emotional depth, raw emotions, and a swoon-worthy second chance at love. If you love romance, second-chance love, sports romance, and spice then I highly recommend this book. show less
