During the pursuit of an escaped felon, FBI agent Evan McGarry, along with his K-9 partner, Blue, discover a ring with links to missing children. This includes Evan's own sister, who disappeared more than 20 years ago and has haunted him ever since.
Evan's investigation involves interviewing a frightened young boy named Noah. The person Noah trusts most is a janitor at the hospital, Marlie Foxe. The connection between Evan and Marlie is electric, but they both realize the other is hiding show more secrets.

Evan's investigation leads to a cult targeting runaways. There's a ticking clock as he fears they may pull up stakes and disappear. Noah is in danger as long as he holds information that would lead to the dangerous criminals. Evan needs Marlie's help with Noah if he is to get answers. Time is running out for Evan and the children, and his powerful attraction to Marlie isn't making things any easier.

Ultimate Justice is romantic suspense done right! It has great characters, a riveting plot, and sizzling romance. Tee O'Fallon's law enforcement background shines through in the realistic and suspenseful plot. The characters feel authentic, including the dogs. The story moves at a brisk pace that will keep the pages flying. The connection formed with the well-rounded characters makes their peril, both physical and emotional, even more impactful. This story works on every level. If you love suspense, if you love romance, or even if you love dogs, you're going to enjoy this book. This is the third in the K-9 Special Ops series, but it works fine as a stand-alone. In fact, just meeting the supporting characters who star in the first two books makes you want to read all of them.

This is one of my favorite books of the year and Tee O'Fallon is an author to seek out.

When I'm looking for action-packed romantic suspense with subject matter ripped from the headlines, I pick up a Tee O'Fallon book. Her books are gripping with detailed and thorough research that only an experienced federal agent could understand firsthand.

Dr. Victoria "Tori" Sampson is a dedicated ER doctor who cares about her patients, so when another overdose victim is rushed into her ER, she wants no one in her way. Especially one big, handsome, broody DEA agent who refuses to leave his show more fellow agent and friend in her very capable hands. She didn't trust the DEA because of what happened to her father, but his kindness for kids and the love of his dog may be a game-changer.

DEA K9 Agent Adam "Deck" Decker will not stop looking for the person who is killing dozens of people in the city. The selling of opioids on the street is rampant and there is a lethal cocktail out there that can kill simply by inhaling it. His sister died from opioid addiction and he didn't trust any doctor who prescribed them. Namely, the hot ER doctor who was giving him grief as good as she got. The attraction grows, but will they be able to compromise and accept each other as they are?

Sparks fly when Deck and Tori meet in the ER. When Deck asks Tori to help him find the people selling the new drug called grey death she agrees despite it being outside her comfort zone. A place she had been in since her father's arrest and her mother's death. Against his better judgment Deck takes her on a couple of warrant arrests that put her in harm's way. Something he vowed to stop. But Tori is bullheaded and not backing down. She took an oath to save lives. However, she never expected to walk on the wild side with a man who had no comfort zone. If he wanted or needed something he just did it. As they are forced together, they give in to their attraction for each other. But someone is trying to kill Deck with no regard if someone else is in the crossfire. He can't risk her life so he stays away, but it's too late and she's the next target. Tori and Deck make a great pair in their dedication to their jobs and the people they have vowed to protect. It's a match made under dire circumstances, but with a happily ever after that is worth waiting for.

Tori's father is a good man who made a commendable but bad decision to help people who could not afford the high price of drugs for their families. He paid the price and what Deck does for him is such a wonderful gift. Deck feels responsible for his sister's death because he didn't see it coming, but he had faith in her doctors as they prescribed the drugs that killed her.

The author does a fantastic job describing the opioid problem with clarity and conviction. It's a serious issue that has gotten out of hand and the idea of people creating deadly cocktails made from the worst of the drugs is frightening and eye-opening. Who is to blame for the problem? Is it Big Pharma, Congress, irresponsible doctors, etc.? Take your pick.

Pick up this book. It's full of thought-provoking stuff, action galore, a love story, and, of course, a delightful, cat-whispering, ladder-climbing dog named Thor.

Thank you to Ms. O'Fallon for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Burning Justice by Tee O’Fallon
K-9 Special Ops #

Fire is a hungry beast that cares not for anything in its path – woe betide anything flammable that might be in its way!

What I liked:
* Beginning with a fire – great way to anchor the story and eventually bring threads together
* Brett Tanner: ATF Special Agent with K-9 partner, obsessed with a fire that had fatalities and in which he was scarred physically and emotionally, suffers from nightmares and PTSD, unable to commit to show more relationships till he resolves the case that preys on his mind
* Blaze: Chesapeake Bay Retriever, K-9 partner to Brett, specializes in sniffing out accelerants but has other talents, loves bacon & watching television, canny canine
* Gemma Scott: National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) Agent, has trust issues after being burned by a colleague, prefers to work alone, daughter, sister, proud owner of Jaws-her goldfish, renovating her home by herself
* The plot, pacing, setting, twists and turns during the investigation into a series of arsons – learned more about fires than I knew before
* The relationship between Blaze and Brett and how well the two work together no matter what they are doing
* Gemma’s family: the parents that set up dates for Gemma in their Deli, her brothers who seem to care deeply for the family and work in the family business, and were so much fun to watch in the last chapter
* Seeing how Deck & Tori are doing and being able to look forward to the next book with Evan in it
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about people willing to commit crimes to pad their pockets – no matter who they hurt in the process
* The scars left on more than one person in this story – do hope that Sally, Gavin, Ally, and others will find a brighter future

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.
