A Bilingual Edition of the Love Songs of Bernart De Ventadorn in Occitan and English: Sugar and Salt (Studies in Mediaeval Literature) by Bernart de Ventadorn
A collection of poems from one of the French trobadors who started the courtly love movement way back when.
Some good stuff in here. A couple of my favorite stanzas:
Let my mistress be pleased
and I will fear no evil
When she slowly slides her eyes along my length
suspending time
I’m born again,
a hundred days packed into one
When my lady looks at me
no joy befalls me.
I drink in her image and revive
and if she stayed,
there’d be no greater joy incarnate,
but she leaves and I burst into flame.
