That I purchased this book sight unseen, without being familiar with the author, is a commentary on the consistency of the publisher and a desire to be a completist, as it obviously fits in with Chris Gibson's books on various other broad classes of British warplanes. Turns out that Jackson is trained as an engineer and writes well, so this was a highly informative study about both training aircraft, and how those aircraft fitted in with the RAF operational vision. A particularly nice touch show more is the strategic use of timelines to demonstrate the progression from the issuance of a requirement to the end of a career of a given type, which in the post-1945 period might mean a period of decades. If Mr. Jackson has any further books in him I'll be very interested. show less
