I didn't really need this book (successfully completed this stage of development quite a long time ago!) but it was such good fun pressing the button and hearing an extended and quite genuine-sounding flushing noise that I bought the book. I know several parents who would like their kiddies to follow the advice in this book, so I mustn't wear the battery out before I give it away.
This little board book comes in boy's and girl's versions with charming illustrations of kiddies' sitting on the pot and a little button to push that makes flushing and giggling sounds. I don't know if it would encourage the kiddywinks in their toilet-training but its great fun to play with anyway.
I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I did not like the plot very much. There was not much to the story. It was just the Christmas carol song we wish you a merry Christmas, so it did not really tell much of a story. I wished they would of added more of a story with conflict or suspense occurring at some point in the story as opposed to just the lyrics to the song. However, I do like how they included the bars of music on the last page as well so that people with instruments show more can play the song. I also liked the illustrations in the book, they matched the song very well. When the book said good tidings we bring to you and your kin, the illustrations showed a group of carolers singing to a family, which I thought, went well with the lyrics. I think the overall message or theme of this book was just a fun book to show some traditions of Christmas time and a fun way for someone to learn the song. show less
I love this book! I think the book is extremely important and gives excellent examples of a variety of different emergency situations. The book gives an example of fire, “If you see a house on fire, call 911 from a safe place. Say.. My name is ________. There is a house on fire.” The book also gives examples of broken bone injuries and being very sick, “If someone is sick and won’t wake up, call 911. Say… My name is _____. Someone is sick and won’t wake up.” I also love that show more there is a fake phone keypad to practice dialing the numbers and a place to practice writing your address! I feel that all children should read this book. The main message is to give information about dialing 911 and learning how to react properly in an emergency. show less
