During a difficult time in life, a husband urges his wife to go to her book group. Though she plans to try to keep a stiff upper lip, their discussion soon has her breaking down and revealing their circumstances to her friends. Her friends swing into action to keep them afloat--at least through the new year.

This was a quick read but boy it made me smile. Little Sanderton sounds a lovely place to live, and the characters are just as good. This is one of those books that is enjoyable with a cup of coffee on a Sunday afternoon by the fire while everyone is out.

All in all it is fun, full of friendship with romance and books all added in.

Okay, very predictable, but actually it was really nice to finally read a book where the women are really, truly friends.

The Reading Group: December is a quick, heart-warming read and obviously a gateway into the full-length novels in this series.

It introduces the reading group characters briefly, and we can see immediately that they are a supportive group of friends as Grace's story unfolds.

I liked the writing style and enjoyed the story and could easily be persuaded to read more.
