📖 Broken Souls and Bones by L. J. Andrews
💭 My Thoughts
I finished this book a few days ago, and I’ve already been begging my friends to read it. I just can’t stop thinking about it! 🤍
Roark Ashwood has to be one of the most memorable male main characters I have ever read. The fact that he cannot speak and communicates through sign language made his character stand out in such a unique way for me. It is not something I have read before. He still carried strength and authority when show more commanding his soldiers, protecting the prince and Lyra. You could feel every ounce of his presence without a single word being spoken. Which is why I felt his relationship with Lyra felt so special because their connection grew through communication that went beyond spoken words. It felt deeper, more personal, and more intimate!
Lyra was such a wonderful main character. She wanted a quiet life but ended up being thrown into a complicated mess once her magic was discovered.
There were side characters that were easily lovable and some that were NOT 😂 (Kael, Thane and Emi being the well loved ones). The magic system felt detailed and the world itself was so well imagined. L. J. Andrews always creates stories that feel alive, and this one was no exception.
Even though this series is meant to be a duology, I could easily read more books set in this world. There are side characters I would love to follow. I am already counting down the days until book two releases because I cannot wait to see what happens next for Lyra and Roark.
✨ Favourite Quote
“When he gently tapped my shoulder three times, then again, emotion knotted in my throat. Mine. He kept claiming me—Lyra—not the melder, but me.” show less

This was a delightfully engrossing read and one that once I feel into it I could not put down. This book has all the hallmarks that I long for in a Romantasy book and all done in an original way. Think of this combination Enemies to Lovers, Morally Grey MMC, Snark and Banter, Forced Proximity Possessive Lovers and did I mention Pirates, Fae, and Vikings? This is a unique story of a beautifully detailed world and lovers who do take that title seriously. The spice in this book is just right show more but it high and will leave you fanning yourself when the moment arises, all the tension and the banter between Livia and Erik truly was setting the stage for The Moment. show less
📖 The Everqueen by L.J. Andrews
💭 My Thoughts
How do you move on from a story like this? I just finished The Ever Queen and I’m honestly still sitting with all my feelings. L.J. Andrews wrote such a fiercely emotional romantasy story with Erik and Livia and I can’t stop mulling over all the love, heartbreak, and yearning with these two!
It was so heartwarming to see people come together in this book. Friends and family really pulled through, making it easy to fall in love with so many show more side characters. It was sweet, even with betrayal, war and high stakes in the forefront.
I know I’m going to have the worst book hangover for days, but in the best way. Seeing these two finally get the ending they deserved made me so happy. I would 100% re-read these books again!
🎯 Who Might Like It
If you enjoy dark romantasy with a fierce love story, deep emotions, found family/friends, and betrayal this series is for you. And of course, Viking and Pirate fae! ⚔️🏴☠️

“They played, that serpent and songbird, from sunup to sundown” … “And lived happily ever after.”

The Mist Thief by L.J. Andrews
L.J. Andrews is officially an auto-buy author for me. Every book of hers I’ve read so far has been such a solid experience, with most of them being five-star reads.
I really enjoyed being back in this world and seeing familiar faces again. Aleksi, Mira, Tait, Sander, and of course, Jonas. The burnt cinnamon roll of a main male character completely stole my heart. The way he reassured Skadi 🥹 This man can declare his love fiercely.
I’d say The Mist Thief show more felt more like a palate cleanser compared to The Ever King and The Ever Queen. The action and tension weren’t as strong this time. It was still there, just not as intense, and the plot didn’t really kick into high gear until near the end. But I still found myself enjoying it, especially the trickster atmosphere of the Kingdom of Klockglas. Watching Skadi adjust to her new home and seeing more of Jonas’s daily life, family, and friends was so fun.
I wasn’t sure at first how I felt about Jonas and Skadi together, but the romance grew on me as the story went on. Now I’m mostly just ridiculously excited for Tait and Mira’s book next year and inspired to go back and read The Broken Kingdoms series to get more of Jonas’s parents, Kase and Malin. Those two were so much fun in this story. You can really feel their love and obsession with each other and their sons. show less
